NCERT Deleted Chapters of History from Ayodhya history to new meaning of LEFT Godhra Riots new changes

NCERT Syllabus Deleted Chapters: The National Council of Educational Research and Training keeps changing the syllabus of textbooks from time to time. NCERT tries to make a syllabus that is beneficial to the students, is relevant and allows them to learn something new. However, NCERT’s removal of several chapters from textbooks in the name of changing the syllabus has often been a matter of controversy. Sometimes it was called politically motivated and sometimes other allegations were made.

Debate started on these topics

Many changes made by NCERT became a matter of debate. Like the history of Ayodhya, removal of chapter on Godhra riots, new meaning of left, etc. A new debate started when India was replaced by Bharat. Not only this, chapters related to the time of emergency in the country were also removed from the books.

The Godhra incident was removed while giving information about the Gujarat riots. Let us tell you that this was mentioned in the NCERT’s 12th class political science book which was removed.

When did the changes happen

The National Curriculum Framework is responsible for these changes. NCF has made many changes in the syllabus year after year. These changes were made in the years 1975, 1988, 2000 and 2005. After 2005 there was a long gap and nothing was changed in the syllabus for many years. After this there was a flurry of changes which is still continuing.

These chapters were removed last year

Last year, the council removed many topics like Mughal court, Gujarat Denge of 2002, Cold War, mention of Mughal kings, emergency, period table from the textbooks published in 2023. Although NCERT said that this decision has nothing to do with politics, opposition parties raised questions on it and made serious allegations like conspiring to erase history.

What changes happened

Recently these topics have been removed from NCERT. Mughal Empire, American Hegemony in World Politics, Cold War Era, Rise of Popular Movements, Era of One Party Dominance, Democracy and Diversity, Popular Struggles and Movements, Challenges of Democracy, Central Islamic Lands, Clash of Cultures, Industrial Revolution.

Along with this, the chapters related to the ban imposed on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh after Gandhiji’s assassination have also been removed. Along with this, the chapters related to Nathuram Godse’s background and the chapters showing his connection with extremist Hindu newspapers have also been removed. Chapters related to the Naxalite movement have also been removed.

The decision for this year has come

NCERT had some time back clearly told CBSE that this year changes have been made in the books of class 3 and 6 and new books are available in the market but apart from this the syllabus of any grade will not be changed this year. Rest of the books for the academic session 2024-25 will remain the same as before.

Let us tell you that in the year 2022, due to Covid, NCERT had reduced the syllabus so that the burden of studies on the children could be reduced. Since then, there have been changes in the syllabus several times.
